Here are some of the things people are saying about PAD!
"Within only one year of attending the PAD course I've already learned the skills and gained the knowledge that I've been trying to understand through books alone over many years. Every subject, covering all aspects of Art & Design for the entertainment industry, are perfectly and thoroughly explained within one course using all the highest standard industry tools and equipment.
The PAD tutors are not only highly talented artists with years of industry experience creating incredible art and design for major feature films, Animated TV series', Games and Graphic novels, but are also enormously patient and generous in imparting their knowledge as teachers and mentors. The classes are made up of other like-minded students that offer each other a great amount of encouragement and support, creating a comfortable learning environment and highly valuable creative community.
I've studied courses in digital art and design over many years and worked in the media industry but for those people that are dedicated and passionate to learn the most important skills that will support you throughout your creative life, the PAD course offers absolutely above and beyond what any other institution can give you." Rob B.
"I took a chance in leaving another diploma to attend PAD (the fee being no negligible amount for me) and I think it was probably the best and most important decision I have ever made, considering that I want to be an artist. They are...building the fundamentals and core knowledge from the ground up in a comprehensive and articulate manner throughout. The teachers are all entirely decent and down-to-earth people. Mentoring and treatment of students has been excellent, our experience and feedback has been constantly paid attention to, and no individual concern has gone unanswered. I have learned and progressed every week from the beginning of the year. These guys have a cultural and international vision for this course and take a personal interest in the success of those attending. I feel that it has been a great stroke of luck and a privilege to have got in at the beginning of what they are trying to build..." Noah H.
"I quit my fulltime job in the motion graphics industry to attend PAD this year in order to further my illustration skills. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
PAD is unlike anything I've ever been to as everything is craft and skill focused and the teachers are highly competent and experts at what they do. The subjects are designed to give students a complete and systematic education that builds a really strong foundation, specifically in the areas of perspective, light and colour, anatomy, and narrative. The atmosphere at PAD is studious but also supportive, and as long as you put in the hard work, you will be able to emerge as an internationally employable illustrator or concept artist.
My work has improved so much this year and while there is still a long way to go, PAD has empowered me, not only in my illustration skills, but also in design and conceptual thinking. Everything I've learnt here I have been able to apply within my design work, and this knowledge would be useful in many more fields such compositing, animation and fine arts." Ranran Z.
"PAD came along at exactly the right time for me. I knew I wanted to do concept art for a living, but I felt that all other programs on offer in Australia neglected the fundamentals and the skills I really felt I needed. PAD has not only begun to teach me exactly the skills I need, but in far more depth than I could have ever hoped for, and I've had a blast in the process. I've really enjoyed my time at PAD and I'm looking forward to doing the full time diploma next year!" Laura M.
"I am currently studying the part-time course at PAD. For me it was a tough decision to choose between institutions but I definitely made the right choice.
The course advances at a rapid rate but it's flexible enough to suit individuals’ needs and provides an extremely insightful approach to the fundamentals and technicalities of production art and design. The teachers are active industry professionals and provide invaluable information as well as inspiring work of the highest standards. This is of huge importance to me.
I’m confident that, with the strength of this course and the guidance of the instructors (and hard work!), I can have an industry standard portfolio and a great career in this field." Matt H.
"I have loved every moment of PAD so far. It's a course with extremely skilled instructors that targets the core fundamentals to really build you up as an international level concept artist. The amount I've improved from my time here has far exceeded any other course I've ever been to. Absolute highest recommendation to anyone interested in a practical, well designed course to actually become very skilled in the field and become extremely employable with hard work." Bradley W.
"Doing the Production Art Department Diploma has given me the biggest jump in skill level I've had so far. The teachers are all passionate and highly skilled educators and artists.
Previous courses that I have done have been
more of a taster course that left me with mediocre skills in too many
areas, not knowing what to do next. It is so wonderful to have found a course that is structured so well. Fundamental skills are taught thoroughly through practical, applied repetition and not just touched on briefly.
Along with the skills I have gained, PAD has given me the foundations to keep building on. I now have the direction and knowledge to keep learning past the end of the course and that, above all else, is the most valuable and treasured thing that I will be taking away from this course." Loretta R.
"I didn't believe it would be possible for me to work full time, and study such a perfect combination of illustration subjects - but PAD turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. I couldn't believe it when I found it, and it sure as hell didn't disappoint. Bring on the second year.
Over the course of their first year, PAD ran our part time class through an intensive set of illustration fundamentals that previous arts and media courses I've attended barely touch. The instructors struck a good balance between demanding, flexible, and friendly, which ensured that we were always being pushed and learning without feeling overloaded. Watching everyone rapidly improve as we moved from basic building blocks to more advanced techniques was almost as inspiring as seeing my own work improve - this first year was a blast, and I can't wait for my second.
If you're looking to actually learn the how's and why's of illustration, instead of just going through the motions, then you don't need to look any further than PAD." Paul C.
