The subject teaches the drawing skills that are required to communicate stories. Classes strongly emphasise traditional freehand techniques, perspective techniques, and compositional techniques for cinematic shots. Students apply these fundamental drawing skills to a wide variety of subject matter. The content progresses from primitives to props, and from creatures to characters. The classes compose the subject matter within environments in order to portray visual narratives.

PROFILE: Tony has worked as a Layout and Storyboard Artist on animated television shows and films for over twenty years. His projects have ranged from stylised cartoons, such as The Woody Woodpecker Show and The Wacky World of Tex Avery, to elaborate Disney films, such as Bambi 2 and Brother Bear 2.
